The North Park neighborhood is a lively residential and commercial area in the urban heart of San Diego, located just north of Balboa Park. With a population of just under 50,000, North Park is home to hundreds of classic California Style Craftsman houses. The neighborhood maintains its strong residential character in its tree-lined parkways, wide streets and charming canyon cul-de-sacs. The retro style of its major business corridors harks back to the 1950s when North Park was considered San Diego's premier suburban community. Today, with a booming revitalization underway, the business district is recapturing much of that earlier magic that defined this proud and historic community. The community features strong resident participation, which along with city and private efforts has worked to redevelop the North Park Theater, the new home of the San Diego Lyric Opera and numerous other sites throughout North Park. Much of the revitalization is spearheaded by North Park Main Street, an organization dedicated to improving the quality of life in North Park through Arts, Culture and Entertainment. Efforts to attract new businesses and make University Avenue more pedestrian-friendly, are just some of the ongoing projects which are restoring North Park to its original luster.

North Park has a variety of real estate options available, including single-family detached homes, condominiums and townhouses. Many single-family detached homes feature scenic city lights, canyon views or sit on serene tree-lined streets and feature private back yards. Single-family detached homes start in the low to mid- $400,000s and range up to around $800,000 and higher. The majority of homes are spectacular older craftsman-style homes that are well preserved. There is also a large offering of condominiums and townhouses available. Condominium prices start in the mid- $200,000s and range up to $500,000. Many condominiums feature community pools and other amenities. As is the case throughout central San Diego there is little or no land available for custom building.

Life in San Diego not only means beautiful beaches, (several of the best are easily accessible from North Park), great weather and the famous laid-back Southern California lifestyle, but also features an amazing variety of world-class attractions. The San Diego Zoo and its sister property, the San Diego Wild Animal Park are deservedly recognized among the leading facilities in the world. Sea World, Lego Land and Knott’s Soak City water park are also within easy reach. Adjacent to North Park, Balboa Park is one of America's premiere cultural complexes. The 1,400-acre park is home to more than 85 cultural institutions, 15 museums and art galleries, four theaters and the world-famous San Diego Zoo.

The baseball field at the
North Park Recreation Center is named for Hall of Fame recipient Ted Williams, who grew up in the community. North Park is home of the Toyland Parade, one of the oldest and at one time one of the largest parades in California
.

Living in North Park will provide you with easy access to the world-class
UCSD Medical Center as well as the full range of services such as libraries and schools. The metropolitan transit system in San Diego makes commuting easier and if you are driving, North Park is close to several of the major freeways that will give you access to all that San Diego County has to offer.
